It can be almost impossible to find someone that isn't affected by cancer; the Albert Dutka Memorial Committee wanted to raise awareness and help the Canadian Cancer Society cure the disease.
In 2006, our father Albert Dutka passed away suddenly from cancer. After his death our family wanted to keep his name alive and we thought it best to host an annual memorial baseball tournament that helped raise money for the Canadian Cancer Society. The 1st anual Albert Dutka Memorial Slo Pitch Tournament took place in June or 2007. The tournament was a fantastic success with 20 teams, 250 athletes and over $6000 raised! In 2008, we were able to add another charity to our tournaments that helps provide kids with funding to pursue interest in refreeing hockey in the Bon Accord/ Gibbons area.
The 2009 edition is fast approaching and we are introducing some new things to help make the weekend even better. We thank everyone for their continued suport and we look forward to seening you there, each and evry year!
